The Alabama Rot Research Fund (ARRF) was started by Michael Barlow after he very nearly lost his labrador, Lulu to the disease. With no known cause or proven link to an infectious agent, and with treatment limited and a poor prognosis, he offered to help raise funds for research which culminated in ARRF being launched as a national charity in February 2016.
